Penholic is a hands-on enrichment program designed to support children ages 3–10 through thoughtfully structured learning experiences. Our goal is to help children grow into confident, curious, and capable learners by nurturing the whole child — mind, body, and creativity.
🧠 What Is an Enrichment Program?
An enrichment program complements a child’s existing school, preschool, or home learning routine.
At Penholic:
- Children attend scheduled sessions
- Learning is hands-on and guided
- Sessions focus on skill-building, not childcare
- Families remain responsible for care outside session times
Penholic is not a daycare or full-day preschool program.

Children learn best by doing. Our approach emphasizes:
- Hands-on exploration
- Small group learning
- Purposeful materials
- Independence and confidence-building
We believe learning should feel meaningful, engaging, and calm, not rushed or overstimulating.
🧩 Program Areas
Children rotate through structured enrichment experiences, including:
- Hands-On Makers Lab – problem-solving, building, and design
- Practical Life Skills Studio – independence and real-world tasks
- Creative Arts & Expression – creativity and fine motor development
- Story & Language Lab – literacy and communication
- Movement & Body Awareness – balance, coordination, and self-confidence
Activities are age-appropriate and guided by trained adults.
🤖 Technology & AI Use
Penholic introduces age-appropriate AI awareness in a limited, guided way.
- Screen use is minimal and supervised
- AI is used as a thinking partner, not a teacher
- Children are encouraged to question, evaluate, and decide
- Hands-on learning always follows any screen interaction
We do not use passive videos or extended screen time.
⏱ Session Structure
- Sessions range from 20–60 minutes, depending on the activity and age group
- Children participate in small groups
- Movement, focus, and reflection are intentionally balanced

- Respectful communication

📸 Photos & Media
Photos or videos may be taken during sessions for documentation or program purposes. Media use follows parent consent forms on file. Please speak with staff if you have questions or preferences.
🔒 Licensing Status
Penholic currently operates as an enrichment program while progressing through the Maryland Office of Child Care licensing process.
During this period:
- Services are offered as enrichment sessions only
- Care is provided during session times only
- Families will be notified as services expand
